About Me

Wayne Cresser is a writer and editor who lives in Jamestown with his wife Nancy, dog Jimmy and boundless fresh sea air. He co-created the online literary journal Shaking Like a Mountain (2007-2012), where he served as chief editor and occasional contributor. His fiction has appeared in eight print anthologies, most recently Spank the Carp 2020, online at Review Americana, Jerry Jazz Musician, Open: Journal of Arts & Letters and Story, and in such print journals as The Ocean State Review and SLAB. His chapbook, Here Comes Herodotus, Again! (and other microhistories) was published as part of the Open: Journal of Arts & Letters 2021 Chapbook Series.

Why do you write?

Coffee and humor fuels my creativity. I write because I can't help myself.

Favorite authors: James Joyce, William Faulkner, Graham Greene, Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Kurt Vonnegut, in poetry Langston Hughes, Ishmael Reed, Edna St. Vincent Millay, John Donne, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Gregory Corso, Gerald Stern and Allen Ginsberg, and the plays of William Shakespeare, David Mamet and Sam Shepard.
Favorite Books: Revolutionary Road, To Have and Have Not, Absalom, Absalom, The Sound and the Fury, The Dubliners, The Collected Plays of William Shakespeare, Winesburg, Ohio, In Our Time, The Idylls of the King, The Catcher in the Rye, On the Road, The Quiet American, The Comedians, Our Man in Havana, The Fallen Idol and Lolita.
