    • About Me

    At 19 years old, I became the youngest (weekly) newspaper editor in Alabama history. I left Montgomery's daily paper in 1998 to take the helm of a national magazine, and I'm still steering. I've been writing and editing since Jimmy Carter left office, and I began painting (mostly wildlife and rusting things) in 2001.

    Why do you write?

    My triggers are usually visual. I write because I must.
