How does one know which publication will be most likely to accept a piece. I have submitted some that people like on Fictionaut, but have had almost all of them rejected. The only one I had published was solicited by the editor.

Just be certain, Sally, that the venues to which you submit - no matter who in FN has submitted there - is in line with your type of writing, style, form, theme, etc.
There are a number venues that are a good fit for my style of writing, but there's another large number of magazines that aren't at all open to or in need of my type of poem / flash / essay.

To add a publication, check the threads to see if it's already there & if not make a new thread
Title: Publication name
Body: link & any pertinent info
To update a publication (notice of closure, suspended subs, reopened subs, etc) just post in that publication's thread

maybe this would also be a good place to send stories that you need help placing--maybe a nice, smart, well read person will have a suggestion
