Why do you write?

My experiences fuel my creativity; I only write what I know or what I have lived to some extent. Sometimes I feel that is limiting, but then I look around and realize my how much I still have to write.

But why write? I don't know anything else.

Any favorite authors? Books?

John Cheever, John Steinbeck, Raymond Carver, Benjamin Percy, and Ernest Hemingway. I read Cannery Row and For Whom the Bell Tolls once a year.

Hi, Matt! Thanks for stopping by and for being intrigued. Your profile is equally intriguing. After dipping into screenwriting, myself (without the success you had) and writing my own fiction, I too am now writing book jacket copy, writing some pages/chapters for non-fic self/help books (ghostwriting company), and will soon be editing children's books. How strange. :) But, it's fun, and like you say, it's challenging. Different every day, too, which is a bonus. I don't know about any brass ring, though. I'll just have to read more about yours.

Thanks for reading and commenting on The Knocker. Glad you enjoyed it. Read your bio. Very interesting. I thought about being a screenwriter, but never got the opportunity. Partly my fault. I could never settle down anywhere. That's changing, though. I'm working on my MFA next year and really psyched about it. And hopefully I'll try living in a place longer than 2 years at a time.
