Jen, thank you for your comments on "Sleep Music, No. 1." Glad you enjoyed the story and that it felt painterly. Catton's book has a seething feeling to it: it's not perfect, but certainly arch-dramatic and has superb tension.

Thanks Jen. So much of my work in in submission and not posted that I forget how little there is to read. Glad you liked the coffee thing. I, too, was a barista for a bit at Borders along the way. . .And yes we are picky!
Hi Jen:
Thank you for your comments about "Play," and congratulations on the new book. If I ever get out of this city of roofs and burnt Bermuda which is Dallas and down your way to the verdant and river bound San Antonio countryside, I will buy you a glass of champagne to celebrate.

My reply: Kind of like a knot in a piece of string, eh?
(also "lumpy" as related to gravy at Thanksgiving ...)
But maybe you and Cherise are right. Maybe it is the wrong word here. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll keep rethinking it.
